At long last, the Dilbert Strip Finder is working. Just type in your query into the search box above and get your results.

This is a new program, so please let me know if anything unusual happens.

Robots Reading News Again plus More

More entries in the Robots Reading News style. The Dilbert blog is up to nine strips as of when I write this.

Also of interest are several test images Scott published when he was having trouble with his blog.

There’s also an advance strip published where Scott shows us the first two panels but withholds the final one.

Unpublished Dilbert: Girl Guide Cookies

Here’s a strip that has never been published in the newspapers. The content is a little too risky for newspapers, so it never got published. Scott Adams said his editor turned it down.

Here’s how I got it. Back in 1992, Scott Adams came to my city on a speaking tour. I did not attend, however, the next day a picture of Scott and this strip appeared in the business section of a local newspaper.

Strip Finder is not Working Yet

I’m sorry to report that the Strip Finder is not working at the moment.

Please don’t panic. I am working on getting it back. I’m re-developing it in a new technology and it may take me a month or two. (Hopefully not longer than that.)

In the meantime, if you want to find a strip, you can:

My Other Cat Monty

From before I brought him home, nearly seventeen years ago, I knew he was no ordinary cat. The breeder said when she did the vacuuming, all the other kittens would scatter. But there was Monty riding on top of the cleaner. He was deaf, of course, but I’m pretty sure he was able to hear a bit, above and beyond feeling vibrations through the floor.

My Cat Maxie

Just after I bought my first house, I phoned my parents and told them excitedly, “I’m getting a roommate!”

Dad, who was ever so hopeful since I had been single for a few years, promptly asked, “What’s her name?”

When I answered “Maxine,” there was stunned silence on the line for maybe 10 seconds. They’re old-fashioned in many ways.

Then Mom asked in a quiet voice, “So, you decided to rent out your spare bedroom?”

I responded, “No, it’s more like I’m taking her in,” and there was more silence.

I broke the silence this time and said “She’s got long, brown hair and big, beautiful eyes.” And taking pity on them at last, added, “And a long, bushy tail.”

They twigged.

Spring Pho at Byron's

Posted at: 2010-04-08 06:17

In what has turned into an annual event, we hosted pho at my place on Friday at lunch time instead of one of our usual pho restaurants. I made Pho Bo (beef soup), and my SO made deep-fried vegetarian spring rolls for an appetiser, both made from scratch.

Here’s a slightly doctored photo of most of the group:
